ACA SEIZES 399 SUSPECTED COUNTERFEIT MOTOR LUBRICANTS IN MUMIAS AND CHAVAKALI

Officers from the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) based in Kisumu have seized 399 pieces of suspected counterfeit 1-litre “Motorol” lubricants following an enforcement operation targeting in Mumias and Chavakali towns in Western Kenya.
Acting on intelligence, the officers inspected motor spare shops seized 399 pieces counterfeit lubricants and taken to Kisumu depot for processing in accordance with the Anti-Counterfeit Act.
The operation forms part of ACA’s sustained crackdown on counterfeit automotive products circulating in the country. Counterfeit lubricants pose significant risks to motorists, including engine damage, increased maintenance costs, and compromised road safety.
Speaking on the operation, Tom Muteti, Regional Manager – Kisumu Region, stated, “The circulation of counterfeit automotive products is a serious economic and safety concern. We remain steadfast in protecting consumers and legitimate businesses from the harmful effects of illicit trade.” He added, “Our enforcement presence across the region will continue to intensify. Traders dealing in counterfeit goods should take note.”
The authority urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected counterfeit products to the Authority. #Ends
