Safeguarding Public Health: ACA Inspectors Intercept Sh1.4M  of Suspected Counterfeit Liquor in Ngara Raid

In an unwavering commitment to protect Kenyan consumers from the hidden dangers of illicit trade, the Anti-Counterfeit Authority conducted a successful dawn enforcement operation in the Ngara neighborhood of Nairobi, seizing a significant haul of suspected counterfeit alcohol spirits. The operation, led by a dedicated team of ACA inspectors, resulted in the recovery of 277 boxes containing various popular alcoholic brands, with a total street value estimated at Sh1.4 million.

While the figures are significant, the heart of this operation lies in the prevention of a potential public health crisis. Counterfeit alcohol often bypasses the stringent safety standards set by the government, frequently containing harmful chemical substitutes that pose a direct threat to the lives of unsuspecting citizens. By moving swiftly, inspectors intercepted the goods before they could reach the shelves of local bars and retail outlets.

“Every bottle we remove from the shelf is a potential life saved,” noted Mr. Abikar Abdi, the Lead Inspector during the inventory process. “Our team is not just enforcing the law; we are standing as a shield between unscrupulous traders and the health of Kenyans. ”
