The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) and the National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) forges an alliance to combat counterfeits and drug abuse. The initiative is to safeguard public health and tackle pressing societal challenges especially during the festive season.
The meeting bringing together the officials from NACADA and ACA was held at the Anti-Counterfeit Authority headquarters in Nairobi. The meeting focused on exploring collaborative measures to address the proliferation and abuse of counterfeit alcohol, drugs, and other substance.
The two organizations seek to address the rising cases of alcohol and drug abuse reported within our communities in the recent past. Speaking during the meeting Dr. Anthony Omerikwa, the CEO of NACADA. Said Counterfeit drugs represented a pervasive threat to global public health. With incorrect or absent active ingredients, these illicit pharmaceuticals jeopardize the effectiveness of medical treatments and, in severe cases, endanger lives.
The ACA's Executive Director, Dr. Robi Mbugua Njoroge, expressed gratitude for collaboration and highlighted the pivotal role played by both institutions in addressing the emerging challenges of counterfeit alcohol and drug abuse. "Our joint efforts are crucial in protecting consumers from the dangers of fake medications and ensuring the integrity of our healthcare system," remarked Dr. Njoroge.
This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to create a safer and healthier society. Both organizations are committed to fostering a united front against counterfeits and drug abuse.
