The Anti- Counterfeit Agency (ACA) has partnered with the Nairobi City County Alcoholic Drinks Control and Licensing Board in sub- county stakeholders’ meetings to create awareness in war against illicit drinks in the county. The two have teamed up in a bid to create consumer awareness in order to curb and regulate alcoholic drinks-a menace that continues to damage families and lives of young and productive youths across the country.

A meeting on promotion of interagency collaboration in the fight against counterfeit goods was held in Nairobi on the 22nd January 2018. Organized by the Anti-Counterfeit Agency, the meeting was designed specifically for national government enforcement agencies dealing with the fight against counterfeits and protection of intellectual property in the country.
The Anti-Counterfeit Agency and the manufacturing sector welcomes the executive order from President Uhuru Kenyatta during this year’s Jamhuri Day address to the nation. He made it clear that the growth of the manufacturing sector is the first pillar among the ‘Big Four’ of creating employment.

Plant for bottling counterfeit alcohol raided as Anti-Counterfeit inspectors seized over 50,000 litres of fake spirits with a street value KSH 40 Million.
Inspectors from the Anti-Counterfeit Agency raided a home at the outskirts of Laare town in Meru County and arrested six people in an undercover operation. Around 50,000 LITRES worth KSH 40 Million of five different trademarks of spirits were seized from the premises on a farm yesterday evening.

The Anti-Counterfeit Agency held a manufacturers forum at its headquarters in Nairobi where manufacturers and innovators came together in an incisive engagement to discuss better ways of engagement in the fight against counterfeits.
In alignment with our commitment to corporate social responsibility, this year, the agency was involved in planting trees at the counterfeit destruction site owned by Envirosafe EPZ Athi-River in Machakos County. On the sunny day of 21st July, the day of counterfeit destruction, amidst the bellowing smoke above the burning kilns, a group of close to 80 participants planted trees around the site.
In a high profile destruction of counterfeits event, the Agency destroyed counterfeit goods worth approximately Kshs.24.5 million at Envirosafe Waste Handlers, EPZ grounds in Athi-River Machakos County.

The Agency through invitation from Ugandan Anti-Counterfeit Network (ACN) participated in a high-ranking advocacy meeting in Kampala, Uganda. ACN are the local caucus of anti-counterfeiting bodies drawn from the public and private sector that advocate for increased recognition of intellectual property laws in Uganda by policy makers.
