The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) held an engagement meeting with key United States partners aimed at strengthening cooperation in the protection and enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

The meeting, led by ACA Executive Director Dr Robi M. King’a, brought together representatives from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the U.S. Embassy in Kenya’s Economics Office.

Discussions centered on the Authority’s mandate and current operations, progress made since previous engagements, key milestones achieved, and opportunities for deeper collaboration between Kenya and the United States on IP enforcement.

The engagement builds on an ongoing relationship between the ACA and its U.S. counterparts, who continue to play a vital role in supporting Kenya’s fight against counterfeit goods. The Authority extended its appreciation to Ms Holly Lance, USPTO Representative, and Ms Faith Ngaii of the U.S. Embassy’s Economics Office, for their contributions to the discussions.

Both sides used the meeting to take stock of progress and identify practical next steps for expanding collaboration, including areas of enforcement, capacity building, and information sharing.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Kenya and the United States to combat counterfeit goods, protect Intellectual Property Rights, support innovation, and promote legitimate trade. Strengthening these partnerships remains central to ACA’s mandate of safeguarding consumers, protecting genuine businesses, and fostering a fair trading environment in Kenya.
