Bungoma Stakeholders Unite to Secure Trade Corridors Against Dangerous Counterfeits
BUNGOMA, KENYA — High-level government officials and private sector leaders converged in Bungoma today to launch a unified offensive against the infiltration of counterfeit goods, a trade they warn is destabilizing the region’s economy and endangering public safety.
The high-stakes stakeholder forum on Intellectual Property (IP) protection and enforcement brought together National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs), county officials, and business representatives to address how illicit products are compromising the integrity of Western Kenya’s supply chains.
Opening the forum, Bungoma County Commissioner Mr. Sankei Thomas emphasized that the battle against fakes is no longer just a legal technicality but a practical necessity for survival. He noted that protecting local markets requires a seamless network of vigilance extending from enforcement agencies to grassroots administrators.
