US Congressional Senior staff delegation visits ACA

A delegation of U.S. Congressional staff, led by Ms. Molly Fromm the General Counsel and Parliamentarian, House Ways and Means Committee today paid a courtesy call to Dr. Robi Mbugua Njoroge, Executive Director of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority at his office today.
The delegation consisting ten senior staff of the United States Congress also held a listening meeting with ACA management on a number of issues related to governments efforts in the protection Intellectual property rights. The meeting is aimed at deepening the delegates understanding of our efforts and challenges for further advice to the congress on issues related to trade between both countries.
The visit is also in furtherance of the United States-Kenya Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership (STIP) pact signed on July 14, 2022 that underscores the collaboration between the two nations towards mutual economic growth and prosperity.
As the lead government agency responsible for combating counterfeit trade, the Authority plays a pivotal role in ensuring a fair-trade practices and transparency in the marketplace.
“The meeting with Senior Staff of the US Congress serves as a crucial step in advancing our shared objectives, particularly in areas such as promotion of fair trade, regulation, and security” Dr Robi Mbugua said after the meeting.
Counterfeit products not only harm legitimate businesses but also pose significant risks to consumers' health and safety. Through collaboration with American Authorities, both sides can strengthen regulatory frameworks, exchange of best practices and enhance enforcement measures to safeguard intellectual property rights.
Dr. Robi Mbugua Njoroge expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to engage with the Senior Staff of the US Congress and reiterated the Anti-Counterfeit Authority's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for legitimate trade and investment.
