Nairobi Innovation Week (NIW) 2018, 5th - 9th March 2018

The participation of ACA at the Nairobi Innovation Week 2018 is to encourage innovators to protect their intellectual property and subsequently partner with the Agency in nailing down those that infringe on it, the so called the counterfeiters. The Nairobi Innovation Week is themed “Innovating for a better tomorrow” and the Agency is set to participate in partnership with the State Department for Trade. The event seeks to showcase startups that will include 100 pitches aimed at identifying 15 most promising Kenyan start-ups of 2018. NIW 2018 will also recognize the most promising student’s innovations and celebrate the creative spirits of young artists. Innovation is synonymous to Kenya’s development agenda and as such the Agency will emphasize on the importance of protecting and enforcing the innovations IP as enshrined in the Kenya Constitution. The education and public awareness division of the agency endeavors to empower the populace by enlightening them on the importance of intellectual property and its role in driving the big four agenda of the country; where IP enforcement is crucial in achieving growth in manufacturing, food security and nutrition, Universal Health and affordable housing in the country, all in which innovation is imperative.
