In a move to safeguard the automotive industry from the scourge of counterfeit parts, the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) has partnered with up with CFAO Motors Kenya Limited to provide product authentication training for its inspectors. Hosted at the CFAO Training Centre in Nairobi, the training is aimed at enhancing enforcement capabilities in identifying and addressing infringements of Mercedes-Benz intellectual property within the country.

Emphasizing the need for the training, Mr. Watson Nyakundi, the Training Manager at CFAO, said counterfeit automotive components were made from inferior quality compared to authentic parts, highlighting the detrimental impact on vehicle performance and, more alarmingly, public safety. Mr. Nyakundi reiterated CFAO's unwavering commitment to partnering with law enforcement agencies to root out counterfeit parts from circulation, thereby safeguarding consumers and the wider community.

The Anti-Counterfeit Authority Deputy Director Enforcement Mr. Lindsay Kipkemoi, stressed the necessity of sector-specific collaborations in the ongoing fight against counterfeits. With the automotive industry being a prime target for counterfeiters, Mr. Kipkemoi highlighted the grave dangers posed by fake parts to road users and the integrity of the automotive market.

CFAO Motors Kenya Limited are distributors and service providers of Mercedes-Benz vehicles within the region. The Authority works with private sector players in both capacity-building and outreach programs in a move aimed at ensuring consumer safety across the nation.
